Hot or Not? 2015 Ford Mustang Redesign Concept!

hot-or-not-2015-mustang-concept.jpg
Very soon the Mustang will be going under the knife and getting a complete overhauled design for the model year 2015! Renderings have been circulating around of what this new Mustang design might entail. When it comes to the designs previously mentioned, I must say that this has to be the best one yet! First of all, you can tell it’s still a ‘Stang which the previous renderings sorta lacked. Second, it is sporting GT40 hints according to the creator, Josh Byrnes from CarScoop.

2015-Ford-Mustang-GT-Concept-Design.jpg

Josh also went and softened the lines and gave it an overall sleekness. While this is the coolest ’15 redesign to date, do you think Ford will stay this subtle? Rumors are pointing more toward a design based off of Ford’s EVOS concept for the new-gen pony. Just please leave off the gull-wings. Eek!

Not only is the body getting a major transformation but the overall platform is going global. Also, Ford has been rockin’ the EcoBoost in some of their other models so it’s likely that the turbo engine will end up as an option for the next Mustang, as well as IRS (Independent Rear Suspension).

Just like everything that involves change, people are either going to love it or they’re going to hate it. It’s as simple as that. With that said…

What do you think of this latest concept? Is it HOT or NOT? Comment below and tell us!

They need to keep the retro muscle car look…and this is not it. Gonna end up with the same crap they had in the ’80′s

  • Adam Tilghman

IRS. does this mean it would be a front wheel drive. No longer a Muscel car.But do like the model shown, rear drive with a turbo engine,is the way to go. Give me one huh.

    • SteelVenom

No IRS doesn’t have anything to do with determining if it’s front or rear wheel.
Corvettes have had IRS since the Sting Ray
      The Terminator Cobra’s had IRS.

    • chris

NO IRS STANDS FOR INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION – IT CAN STILL BE A REAR WHEEL DRIVE COBRAS WERE RWD AND HAD IRS AS WELL

    • Brandonflood123

@adam tilghman, the irs just simply means that there will be a
differential in the back that has separate axles coming out of each side
will be able to handle differently, like driving down a dirt road where
each side of the car experiences different dips and bumps. easiest way
to really look into it is just go look up an 05 Pontiac GTO rear end,
they are a rwd IRS. Read more: Hot or Not? 2015 Ford Mustang Redesign Concept! | AmericanMuscle.com Mustang Blog

Looks ok….Not a big fan of the 2013 body style. The 2010 was good except the rear. The 2013 gave it an ugly face I just don’t like.

From the blog, Ford is going to go along the lines of the new Evos concept. I don’t see how it can be missed that this has a little Evos in it! I think its different enough, but still familiar. Could use a little more to set it apart in my opinion.

  • eric

Yea…. I don’t like it. I was waiting for 2015 to buy a new one, but now I have a bad feeling they gunna slip away from the retro look. So I guess I will be sticking with my 2005 n not buying a new one..

  • http://www.facebook.com/cody.lawson1 Cody Lawson

This is garbage and so is “EcoBoost”. The mustang is a muscle car and should stay that way. Big, square, mean, a ton of horsepower, and no traction control. This 2015 looks to much like a hyundai…

  • Renny

Nooooo! It’s going sedan. Slowly slicking out what makes a ‘stang a ‘stang.

  • http://www.facebook.com/nathanaeljohann Nathanael Worthing

Not too crazy about the grill. Missing the lip of the hood that’s always been there.

  • Jason Biagio

Call me old fashioned (be polite) but I think this is a move in the wrong direction. What separates the fabled Mustang from other Muscle Cars (I use that term loosely) is the solid rear axle and the retro (as in “nostalgic” not “dated”) styling. Ford engineers have been able to do magic with a solid rear axle…just look at the track prowess of the the Boss 302. The styling of the 2005 GT and up to 2012 GT is amazing, although I do think I favor the 2005. The 2013 is too “showy” in my opinion and has a face that only a mother could love. The rendering does look nice (bravo to the artist) but I think it misses the mark and strays from the essence of the ‘stang. It is bold but lacks the bravado to back it up. We need a real Mach 1 or “fastback” with the fascia of the 2005-2012, simple as that.

I can not agree more with this…..100% correct on the nose.

    • Skitz

I couldn’t agree more. Same with the guy above. Lets not satisfy countries that don’t have an appreciation for the American made car. The Mustang represents this country and love shared between a father and son. My grandfather had a stang, which was passed down to my father and I plan on receiving it as well. Lets keep that dream alive by keeping the things that make it an American made muscle car just that. American.

FORD HAS SOLD OUT TO EURO LOOK, HATE ROUNDED REAR LIGHTS, AND WILL FORD REPAIR REAR END EVERY WEEK WHEN WHEEL HOP AND HORSE POWER BREAK THEM. hOW MUCH WILL THEY WEIGH AND HOW ROOMIE IS INTERIOR? WHAT WILL IT COST? i STILL PICK MY MAX WEDGE PLYOUTH AND RACE HEMI, BOTH 64′S, AND 64 GTo ISN;T 1ST MUSCLE CAR, THE 62, 413 OR 409 BISCAYNE WERE FASTER, THE GTO WAS A DOG. mAX WEDGE AND ls-6 CHEVELLE SHARE THE CROWN FOR ULTIMATE MUSCLE.fORD HAS ULTIMATE MUSTANG RIGHT NOW, LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL DESTROY THE IMAGE WITH THIS DESIGN, LOOKS LIKE A EUROPEAN OR JAPANESE CAR NOW. BETTER BUY 2013

  • Traciscr

It’s ok but the front is a little bit to rounded

  • mustang 50

i say hot because i want it to change so they all don’t look like my 2012 5.0 is it that hot not realy but it will grow on you :o )

  • http://www.facebook.com/jerry.tew.7 Jerry Tew

I like it, but I’d like to see a bit more of a change from the current style, however it must still look like a Mustang.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ray.mellott.1 Emt Ray

I like the body I think the front is too bland. I feel if Ford slips away from the retro design they will have a surplus of 2015 Mustangs.

  • Robert Myatt

Kind of depends though on what they do to the rear end which is not visible in this rendering the latest mustangs bummed me out when the angled the rear corners and angled the tail lights the guy that did that should be fired and go to work for GM !!!

  • Robert Myatt

Also it needs racier looking rims the ones in the drawing look like wagon wheels

  • Robert Myatt

    Stop making mustangs round !

  • SCJ429

They want to bland out the mustang’s aggressive heritage and nature for the euro market.. and take away from the rugged angular american muscle look… they likely fear our (America’s) Mustang will flop there like the Aussie market attempts in the US did (Pontiac GTO). I think it’s a spit in the face of the Mustang’s, and the american automotive history, and the Mustang should be USA exclusive, period. We don’t see any Boss FPV Falcons for sale at the ford lots, do we? Nope, so why send the Pony over seas??? Why smooth it out for the Euro customers when it’s an american car, inspired by american ideals and the car’s own past?? I’m very disappointed in Fords direction with this one car… it’s a US icon… keep it that way.

    • Skitz

      Amen.

    • A.Noid

The retro look has been done to death. dump it, and make the Mustang a statement that Ford can make their flagship car a modern world class sports car as well as a world class muscle car.

  • http://twitter.com/trevormarr1 trevor marr

tweak it, improve it, maybe down-size slightly? but don’t make it unrecognizable…

  • http://www.facebook.com/matt.beasley.16 Matt Beasley

Of the concept drawings I’ve seen, this is the best one of them. The one in the latest issue of Mustang Monthly is just plain awful……

  • FastFox89

@ david286, the 80s wasn’t crap. The fox body platform is a beautiful car, esp. the late 80 front and the hatchback. IMO they nned to go back to the fox platform styling.

  • Odie94

Looks like the designer tried to do a three way merge between a Taurus, 13 Mustang and a fluffy pillow, I would rather go and buy a Challenger and I don’t like Chrysler products. I love my 05 Mustang just because it looks like it belongs with the originals, and they are easy to do work on as though the designer had that in mind for the car. However this looks like they wouldn’t do a thing for the car except market it to those who care nothing for performance and competition. IRS now that’s a good idea, granted you wont be able to power slide corners as easily but you will be able to keep up with Camaro’s, which coincidentally have IRS, through the corners in a non Roush model.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jake.nuno Jake Nuno

I think its a great concept BUT the front end is hardly aggressive in my eyes. When I think of a Mustang I think of fast and aggressive Muscle car! But a soft rounded front end kills that image. I prefer the 05-13 front ends vs. the 90-04 style front end because of this.

I always dreamed they would go off of the SN-95 one of these days. I do so love that generation.

    i think it’s sexy.
this coming from someone that thinks cars should be sexy, not aggressive.
no hate, but i do wish it continue to look completely different form the other cars in fords line up

  • brandon

The sad part is it looks like a taurus sho!!
Wtf.. Ford! Im sure its a well made car, but I’m going with a Big” Fat.. HELL!!! NO!!!!

    • Skitz

That’s what I said up above too. I don’t like that bubbly look that they have going on.

  • Tim Hill

I think it is starting to look like a buick there!!

  • Aj Walsh

It looks amazing but its not a muscle car look, starting to look more like a bmw.

    • Skitz

Reminds me of a sportier Ford Taurus.

  • Aj Walsh

    What happened to american muscle?

  • boss429

it’s real hard to improve on success, everytime that it’s been tried,we loose ten years, refine the 05 style, sleek just makes it look like everything else, the 65 to 70 stangs still top the lists…50 years later!

  • George Keseyan

Gosh people, it’s only a third party render. We’ll all see what the real deal is going to be when Ford shows actual concept at either LA auto show late this fall or Detroit one next year.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MetallicAlloyClearcoat Robert NoflyZone Davis

stop it with the raked rear end already…lower the damned thing at the factory like it should be.

  • Mustang Cheryl

Looking too much like the Camaro. Keep it Ford Please. My favorite years are between 05 and 09. The look was new but retained some of the key features of the older Mustangs.

  • Jorja

Not….it’s getting too far away from the original Mustang design again. The front is horrible. I hope my 2005 lasts a long, long time.

  • Grabber GT

Retro works! Don’t make the same mistake Pontiac did with the GTO. I realize there is a trend to make the whole line have similarities in looks, but this is a Mustang. Keep it distinctively different and retro. I have an ’07 GT and it is still my favorite of all because my dream was always a 69-70.

  • tbird96

Get rid of that useless, pointless rear seat window….offer the scoop on all models

  • gordon lee

please tell ford the one on this page is awsome!!! But the one in mustand monthly is fugly. please dont mess up a good thing the chevy and dodge fans are already making jokes about the thing in mustang monthly. I hope its not the next mustang. The 5.0 most stay and let us old timers have a choice V8 or turbos. I know things have to change but the car should always have some mustang hues to it that says im a bad dude bring it peice of chevy.

  • DMcG

This would count as maybe the best Mustang design since 1970. I love it. Exactly where they ought to go. But you know it’s going to look like a Focus coupe.

  • Adam

Looks awesome from the side. Like the sharp edges. The front looks awful. Looks like a taurus front end or something. Not aggressive enough. Looks almost like they are going more for aerodynamics than styling.

  • Mark

It’s going to be changed, thats a fact. It’s very unlikely that what happened in 87 will happen again. I too am a HUGE fan of clean, crisp lines. However, I also understand the need for change, and to expand to other markets. That is the only way for for to continue (imo) and expand there dominance as the one car maker that continues to thrive throughout history even through tough times. With all that said, I like this design a lot! No it doesn’t have the crisp straight lines, or the flattened nose (they have been moving away from that since 2010 anyway), but one look and it still resembles a mustang. I say ford should study this photo and use it for reference and add it to what they already have. Though the design is probably already done or very close to it. Props to the artist, this is an amazing job.

  • Street-48

I like it in general, BUT the rear fender is too tall, and the 1/4 windows is too small. It makes the back wheels seem like they are 15”. Also the Headlights are to thin, It fells like they drew the car on different scales, and then put it all together with out converging.

  • Nelson A

The car look hot but need other rims. need big rims with lips.

  • The Vader

Looks like a fucking Volvo !! I’ll keep my 2013 Gt!!

  • Me

That just looks wrong…. Don’t like how they make it all modern and not “muscley” looking. Deffinatel a womens car now

  • notchadaddy

It looks nice but it looks like there headed more toward luxury and less toward muscle?

  • 1996GT

Ford putting an IRS in a mustang? That’s completely stupid, no drag car is going to be using an IRS. If you want handling go buy a Termi. End of story.

  • brainns80

Looks like the front of a Kia crossed with the roof line of the 2008 Accord 2dr and finished up with the tail of a late model Vette.. Just my two cents worth..
