Mustangforums.com Military Heroes Contest Winners!

We are active on a lot of forums, and we love to run contests on these boards, as well as in our blog. Recently, we ran a contest on Mustangforums.com. We asked forum members to submit a friend or family member — or themselves — to be considered. A panel of judges went over the entries and chose their top three, who were awarded three amazing prizes. Without further ado, here are the winners!

  • First PlaceWinner of the SCT X3 Tuner and 1 Free Tune (for her husband), and a $75 gift certificate (for herself):
  •

     Shannon and Kyle Tyler!

Here’s what Shannon had to say about her husband, Kyle:

"Kyle and I met when we were both stationed in Korea, we got married and bought the Mustang at an Overseas Military car sales program. Since we’ve been in the states Kyle’s hobby and passion has been working on the car, most of the time getting new ideas from Mustang Forums. Back in June ’07 Kyle was deployed to Iraq with his unit, unfortunately since hes been gone he missed the birth of our first daughter, Lorelai. But he’s looking forward to coming home on R&R; he can’t wait to meet Lorelai, see the family, and work on the car. He’s been talking about putting a cold air intake in, something about a hood scoop, and a tuner.

As you can see by the pictures below there was an accident. On the 26th of October I was cut off by a Dodge Caliber on post. The good news is the shop says that the car can be repaired before he comes home. And thats why I’m entering this contest for him, he is so self-less; hes over there fighting right now and then I had to break the bad news about the car. And even after he saw the pictures he was just glad I was ok."

  • Second Place –Winner of his choice of gears AND a $50 Gift Certificate (for nominating himself):
  •

    Mike Cox, Jr.!

What he had to say:

"Well I don’t think I am a hero or amazing (my wife seems to think so and she told me I just have to do this since she hates computers),  but I have been in the army since 2002. I was in Iraq for 14 months in 04-05 as a combat engineer with the 1st Cav. Since then I have re-classed and now I fix broken Apaches. I am currently in Afghanistan with the 82d Airborne. I have the best army wife ever and 3 great kids who love daddy’s mustangs, my youngest was 3 days old when I deployed to Iraq. I have an 88 LX convertible 5.0 and an 07 GT that I used my reenlistment bonus to get."

  • Third Place —Winner of a Billet Grille w/Pony Cutout AND a $25 Gift Certificate (for nominating himself):

Tracy Singer!

What he had to say:

"I’m Army Master Sergeant Singer, currently in Iraq. I’ve been serving on active duty for over 20 years and this is my 5th deployment (3rd in Iraq). I work with the Iraqi Army daily so that they can hopefully take control of the security mission and U.S. forces can depart. As part of our job, we perform combat patrols with the Iraqi Army (IA) several times a week (I stopped counting after 75). Why should I win? I deserve to win this no more than anyone else; we all serve our great nation. Without warriors, there would be no America. Without America, there would be no Mustangs. So, I guess we made Mustangs possible in a round-about fashion. (I’m kidding) Like many, I’m married to a wonderful gal and we have two beautiful children. Sorry, no pics of them on the Internet. In my (rare) free time, I’m also a college student finishing a BA."

All three winners will also receive t-shirts for every member of their squad!

Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to everyone that participated! We appreciate your hard work and dedication more than you know. Take care of yourselves, and come home safely!

The Swarr Bar: Rear Support for your Mustang

AmericanMuscle.com
Customer Service Reps are frequently asked to give local shop recommendations. Being based out of Eastern Pennsylvania makes it difficult to direct our customers that live in other parts of the country. However, if you are local to AmericanMuscle, pay attention!

There are a lot of good shops in the area, but today we’re going to profile one of our favorites: Swarr Automotive.

Based in the Collegeville, Pa. area, Swarr Auto has the capability to do almost every modification or installation. Though they specialize in transmission, suspension and rear end builds, they have excellent relationships with local paint and body shops and engine builders.

Owner Eric Swarr has been working on Mustangs forever. His father, Jim Swarr, was a legend in the racing industry, and Swarr took over the family business when his father passed away. Having worked with the best of the best, Swarr can truly be considered one of the most knowledgeable in the industry.

Besides the top-notch work done in his shop, Eric Swarr has also designed a part that provides amazing support for 8.8 rear ends. The Swarr Bar was designed for high-performance street and strip racing applications — though it will work nicely on daily drivers, too — and is an easy, bolt-on modification for any Mustang. Constructed of mild tubular steel, the Swarr Bar is TIG welded to ensure
strength and durability, and powder-coated black to last.

The torque produced by high performance Mustangs can cause the rear to flex under load. It’s not fun when it happens, and if you’re looking to prevent it, the Swarr Bar is the way to go. This part also eliminates wheel hop, getting the power to the ground where it’s needed. In an interview with Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, Swarr pointed out one more benefit to his part.

"It also helps with reaction time," he said. "The stiffer rear allows the car to react quicker because power is used to drive the car, not flex the rear."

So, if you’re looking for rear support that also drops reaction time and eliminates that oh-so-annoying wheel hop, swing by AmericanMuscle.com or give us a call and pick up your very own Swarr Bar.

And if you’re in the area and you’re looking for a shop, give the good folks at Swarr Automotive a call.

$335 in Prizes up for grabs in a Haunted Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Not too far from the AmericanMuscle.com office is a small town. Like other small towns across Pennsylvania, it is unremarkable in its daily life. The seasons come and go, and people celebrate together: gathering in autumn to crown a new Apple Fair Princess, and again in the winter to light the Christmas tree in the town center.

On the edge of this town, so far out that most adults choose to ignore that it is within their borders, stands an old house sagging and worn with age and neglect. It is rumored that something terrible happened in that house, but there is no one still alive to say what. And every year, the town’s teenagers challenge each other to spend a night in the house, to find out once and for all if it is truly haunted.

No one has ever succeeded. But, this year is different. This year the Apple Fair Princess proved to be the most daring teenager in town, disappearing into the house one night, with a promise to emerge the next day. That was three days ago, and she has not been seen since.

But, she has been heard.

Every night – at exactly midnight – the echo of a girl’s scream rolls through the town and into the ears of every resident. Every night, the townspeople gather in the town center, huddling together and talking frantically about what has happened, and what will happen next.

Tonight, the scream came again at midnight. Again, the townspeople gathered in distress. But, tonight there was a note, written on aged parchment and nailed to the largest tree in the town center.

If what I have belongs to you

Then I need entertainment, too.

To my house, she came one night,

Searching for a wicked fright.

I scared her to a silent state,

And now she sits and waits her fate.

But her fate now sits in your hands

And you’ll decide which way she lands.

I’ll send you on a little hunt,

And this for me will be quite fun.

I’ll hide eight things around this town

And I’ll keep her until they’re found.

Find them now, ‘fore it’s too late,

And she’ll walk through my haunted gate.

But if you fail to find them fast,

I cannot promise that she’ll last.

Her fate lies in the hands of town,

She’s begging not to let her down.

You have until All Hallows Eve

And until then you’ll hear her scream.

The first one to my door will win,

And I’ll let her be yours again.
