A few weeks back, Pete Epple of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords dropped by to check out our untouched 2012 Boss 302! While he was here, we added a few modifications to help us make this thing just a little bit faster! After a round of mods and dyno tuning, we headed to the track to check out what it could do against our 2011 Automatic Mustang GT with similar mods. Watch out for the full story and details in the January issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Ford Magazine, dropping November 23, 2011!
A few weeks back, we took a trip to Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, KY with the 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine crew to give them a taste of our Procharged 2011 V6 – currently holding the record for the fastest 2011 V6 Mustang in the world. Steve Turner, chief editor at 5.0, wanted to get some seat time to see exactly what the car could do! It was definitely an honor, and he had no problem strapping in and putting his foot to the floor!
Not too long ago, we received a dare from our customers on Facebook, YouTube and a few different Mustang enthusiast forums. The message was clear: we want to see you race your 2011 GT and your 2012 Boss 302 at the drag strip. The timing was perfect… we had two employees
beating their chests going back and forth about who the better driver is. It was time for them to “put up or shut up”, and shortly after, we headed to Cecil County Dragway for a grudge match!
If you’ve been following along throughout our 2011 V6 Mustang project, you know we left off with a respectable 12.47 1/4 mile pass at the end of Stage 4. That was a really good time for what we had into the car up until that point. It was even the fastest recorded 11-12 V6 pass for quite some time until Central Florida Motorsports and another privately owned 2011 V6 both pulled amazing times of 12.2 and 12.34, sending us back to the grind!
We hit the garage hard, with some help from Circle D Performance, PSI Performance, Procharger and a good set of slicks & skinny’s, we wanted 11’s… BADLY!
Every few months, we get the urge to build a new Mustang! Once we finish up a project, it’s not long after that we start getting anxious to rip apart and rebuild again. We’ve built a 10-second Automatic 2011 GT, 11-second Automatic 2011 V6 and even an Automatic 2005 GT with Nitrous. It’s about time that we did a manual car, but what color should it be?
This past weekend, 611 Mustangs from all over the country came out to Delaware County Community College in Media, PA to help us celebrate customer appreciation and donate to a great cause, Wounded Warriors Project. We were ready to make this thing happen rain or shine with potential thunderstorms threatening our event! Did AmericanMuscle.com make it worth the trip?
So far, our 2011 V6 has completely transformed from a moderately responsive and dumbed-down V6 slushbox into a hard and fast-shifting beast that not only is good in a straight line, but kept up in a professional road-course environment. We could have called it quits and retired the car very respectably at Stage 3, right? That’s just not how we roll at AmericanMuscle…
Check out the footage as we head to New Jersey Motorsports Park with our 2011 V6 Mustang Project to test out what we could do in Stage 3 of our build! If you’ve been following along in Stage 1 and Stage 2, you’ve probably seen how well this car responds to aftermarket mods. We’ve shaved .75 seconds off of our 1/4 mile time, and it’s time to make this car corner and handle!
We’re one step closer to getting this mean V6 to out-run some of the competing V8 muscle cars on the market! If you saw what we did in Stage 1 of our build, get ready to dive even further into the 13’s at the track! With over a half-second gained with nothing but a Cold Air Intake and Tuner, we needed to help transfer the power evenly to the ground in Stage 2…
Take whatever you think you know about V6 Mustangs and throw it away. We’re taking a completely stock 2011 V6 Automatic, rated at 305hp from Ford, and showing the potential that Ford left us with this new 3.7L engine. We’ll be building this bad boy up in 4 Stages of modifications and put it to the test on the dyno, at the track and on the street!
