The 2017 Raptor’s Engine
One of the biggest gripes amongst a minority of enthusiasts is Ford’s decision to equip the 2017 Raptor with a 3.5L twin turbo engine as opposed to the previous model’s 5.4L and 6.2L NA engine setups. However, the first video in this series should put to rest any doubts of the Raptor’s power platform– it effortlessly cuts through the sand dunes, annihilating bumps, ditches, and ruts as it continues to blast through the open dessert.
Paddle Shifters in a Raptor?
This first video from Ford gives us a quick glimpse at the Raptor’s newly designed transmission. Using a co-developed 10-speed automatic, the Raptor maintains that enthusiast driven mindset with paddle shifters that deliver quick, and snappy shifts. With more gears for improved MPGs (which is helped even further by the aluminum body panels), the new transmission setup paired to the new engine layout will make the new Raptor a force-to-be-reckoned with–on or off pavement.
Be sure to check back to this post in the future as it will continue to be updated with the newest video releases on the 2017 Raptor!
