If you’re looking for a follow-up to the 13-14 Shelby GT500, the 2015 Shelby Super Snake is your answer!Just a few weeks ago, Shelby American unveiled the 2015 Super Snake to the world for the first time, and today they have released the first footage of it driving, shredding tires, and going wide-open throttle.
The new 2015 Shelby Super Snake is down right vicious, pumping out an astounding 750+ HP to the rear tires with nothing more than pump gas. In the video, Shelby test driver Vince LaViolette, goes pedal to the metal through the gears, allowing the massive supercharger to whine as is propels the Super Snake to neck breaking speeds in no time.
Shelby plans to only create 300 of these tire melting master pieces to the tune of $55,000 (plus the cost of the Mustang GT itself). The Super Snake package adds a wide array of styling and performance parts that ultimately construct a turn key work of art that is capable of destroying the rear tires or setting lightening fast times at the track.
2015 Shelby Super Snake vs 2015 Shelby GT350R
With this teaser of the 2015 Shelby Super Snake being released and with new 2015 Shelby GT350 getting ready to hit the streets, it is hard not to draw comparisons between the two. While both Mustangs share the Shelby name plate and both will be ultra-low production for 2015 (300 Super Snakes and 137 GT350’s) the similarities pretty much end there.
At the core of it, the Super Snake and the GT350R are two incredible Mustangs for two different types of Mustang owners. The 2015 Super Snake packs a supercharged 5.0L and is made for throwing down fast 1/4-mile times while the GT350R packs a naturally aspirated 5.2L high-revving flat plane crank engine and is made for being killing corners on the track.
While you can’t go wrong with owning either car, both attract two very different owners. Someone who goes for the 2015 Shelby Super Snake is the kind of Mustang owner who wants to hit up your local car show, cruise around here and there, and squeeze in a few trips to the drag strip. It’s a looker and a mover packing a huge blower, how can you not love it?
The GT350R on the other hand attracts a completely different Mustang owner. The person who buys a GT350R is the type of person who loves bombing those backroads, throwing whatever they’re driving into turn after turn, the kind of person who looks forward to autocross/road racing events like it is a monumental holiday that comes once a year. The GT350R is a surgeon’s scalpel, looking to carefully destroy whatever you throw at it.
Does the 2015 Super Snake live up to the legacy of the 2013-2014 GT500 or does it not fulfill the Shelby name?
