2015 Shelby GT350R & GT350 Production & Pricing Numbers Released!

The S550 Shelby GT350

Ford has officially released the 2015 Shelby GT350R and GT350’s production numbers and it will have quite a few people upset. Ford has also given us a breakdown as to what certain options are going to cost on the new S550 SVT Shelby Mustangs, cuing us in as to what we can expect MSRP to be.

2015 Shelby GT350 Production Numbers

While both the GT350 and GT350R are incredibly desirable to any automotive fan, it is certainly the GT350R that speaks to the inner-racer in all of us. Unfortunately, not of us will be able to get one as the production numbers will be incredibly low. How low you ask? Ford says that they will produce only 37 Shelby GT350R Mustangs in 2015.

The reasoning? As Jalopnik pointed out, it is because they are paying homage to the original 1965 FIA-homologated Shelby GT350 competition Mustang production numbers. Those numbers themselves are a point of contention for Shelby aficionados. According to Shelby, there was 2 prototypes and 35 production GT350’s created in 1965. However, VIN records show that only 34 1965 Shelby GT350’s received VIN numbers. Ford has decided to produce 37 in memory of Carroll Shelby for the 2015 year.

If you did not plan on getting a GT350R and only desired the 2015 GT350 Shelby, the news doesn’t get much better. Ford announced they will only create 100 Shelby GT350 models for 2015. That means that 137 GT350R and GT350s will be made in 2015.

However, there is no need to panic as this is only for the 2015 Mustang model year and not the 2016 model year, which Ford plans on bumping up production for.

2015 Shelby GT350 Price

Ford has given us a small glimpse into what we may expect in terms of MSRP price for the new S550 Shelby GT350. Broken down by Mustang6G, the prices for the following options have been released:

2015 GT350 Option Pricing (MSRP):

  • Tech Package = $7500.
  • Track Package = $6500.
  • Navigation = $795.
  • Painted Black Roof = $695.
  • Triple Yellow = $495.
  • Over the top stripes = $475.

2015 GT350-R Option Pricing (MSRP):

  • R Package (over base GT350) = $3500.
  • SVT Touring Package = $3,000.
  • Navigation = $795.
  • Painted Black Roof = $695.
  • Over the top stripes = $475.

While they have yet to announce the official total price of the GT350, we can already start adding up the various options. Combine that with the 50 year anniversary for the GT350 as well as the limited production run that is planned for 2015, we can expect the price to be in the ballpark of $50,000+.

What are your thoughts on the limited production 2015 GT350 run? Does it add to the heritage or does it only drive up the price?

  1. I have these first year GT350s pegged at roughly 65k with all the toys, and the ‘R’ at 80k. I believe mark-ups and bidding wars are going to put the base cars at 80-90k though, and ‘R’s well of 120k.

  2. According to Ford website the STARTING MSRP for the 2016 Ford Shelby Gt 350 is $47,795.00 and for the Ford Shelby GT 350-R is $61,295.00…So the GREED FACTOR is not on FORD MOTOR COMPANY but its FORD INDEPENDENT DEALERSHIPS!
