Watch as Justin Pawlak rips his 800+ horsepower, 2014 Ford Mustang across the track in Long Beach, CA during his Formula Drift qualifying round. Despite hitting the wall during his first run, JTP still managed to reach a spot among the top 16.
Currently, Justin Pawlak sits in 5th place on Formula Drift’s Championship Standings, just behind current second place holder (and 2010 Formula Drift Champion) Vaughn Gittin Jr. The two have combined to rise Ford to the top of the Manufacturer’s Cup standings. Not to mention propelling Falken to the top of the Tire Cup leader board as well. These two are showing the drifting world that the Mustang truly is a well-rounded performance vehicle, dominating a sport stereotyped as a competition typically dominated by the import crowd.
Justin also managed to take first place in this weekend’s round 4 qualifier–“The Gauntlet” in Wall, NJ. Ford Racing was nice enough to throw together a nice video of Justin ripping apart a set of Falken tires, just to give those of us less privileged enthusiasts a 360 degree view of what it’s like to tear apart tire and asphalt with reckless abandonment.
