Spy Photos: New 2015 Mustang Prototype Spied During Testing

2015 Mustang Spy Shot by Jim Dunne

With the upcoming release of the next generation Ford Mustang, spy photographers have been prowling the streets and popular testing areas, looking for any signs of a 2015 Mustang or mule car rolling around. Now, it looks like veteran spy photographer and automotive espionage extraordinaire Jim Dunne has captured a few distance photos of Ford’s new pony car.

With so much at stake regarding the release of the redesigned 2015 Mustang, any changes to the next-gen Mustang have been heavily guarded by Ford. Luckily for us, there are plenty of opportunistic enthusiasts with a camera looking to spill the beans. Here we can see, well, very little. These distance shots aren’t the greatest, but they do tell us a few things, one being that Ford is now testing the newly designed Mustang and has a solid base to work with. The curvature on this Mustang also appears different and may indicate the S550‘s rumored shorter wheel base to be true.

The 2015 Mustang – a Camouflaged Future

We’re now roughly a year away from Ford’s official unveiling of the redesigned 2015 Mustang and the pieces are beginning to fall into place. While there has yet to be and clear-cut images of the new Mustang, there has been mule photos displaying an IRS replacing the archaic solid rear, spy shots of the front end and plenty of concept photos to keep you wondering. As the pieces begin to fall in place there still remains many questions unanswered–How “European inspired” will the new Mustang be? What EcoBoost motor(s) does Ford have planned? How many cup holders are we getting? Hopefully we’ll get some concrete answers before it’s too late to start saving up for a down payment.

Comment and tell us which changes Ford should or should not make to the 2015 Mustang.

  1. I don’t know what to say, I just hope there isn’t a body panel under that tarp, this thing looks odd or crashed. 17in wheels from Pony Package for 2015?

    1. Agree on all points except for the IRS/Solid Rear option. I’d prefer a standard IRS EXCEPT on the 2014.5 Limited Editions. Those need to be as true to the original as possible (of course, with “modern” powerplant, suspension, electronics, AND a 6- (or 8?) speed manual tranny with a sick ratio.

  3. The headlights looks like the 2015 concept Streaked lights, looks after facelift I hope it will still have the American mustang line and not an European style or something like that because the alights already changed

  4. I would like to see a supercharged v6 similar to that found in the Audi S4 with more power, also a 5.0 dual turbo would be awesome. I would also like to see more available options, like lower and better suspension options, better leather interior, carbon fiber trim, telescoping steering wheel, exterior graphics, better and bigger rim and tire options, better handling, and more colors. LED lighting, less interior plastic, brushed aluminum, dual clutch transmission with paddle shifters. If this is going to sell in Europe and America, it needs a more sporty and elegant interior as well as competing with Audi and BMW performance.
