For the entire months of August and September, MSD Ignition is giving you up to $50 back on their products! It’s really simple. All you have to do is purchase any MSD Mustang Ignition parts that we sell, and then fill out the rebate form! This is a great time to update your dated factory ignition system…
But what ignition parts are right for you? Let’s take a look at some of the parts that are important for keeping your Mustang from losing power!
Mustang Spark Plugs & Spark Plug Wires – There’s no better way to make sure that you’re running strong than a fresh pair of Spark Plugs or Spark Plug Wires (if your Mustang is equipped with them). A dirty or fouled set of plugs won’t give you the full spark in the combustion chamber and can lead to unburnt fuel, washed cylinder walls, poor gas mileage, missing performance and even misfires! Spark Plug Wires are just as important, as they deliver the energy to the Spark Plugs. There are affordable performance options for both, and should be replaced with regular maintenance.
Mustang Ignition Distributors – On older-model Mustangs, the Ignition Distributor was one of the first things that you did to add some horsepower and throttle response. The older that these cars get, the more necessary that it is to replace the stock Distributor and take a good look at the wiring going to and from it. New Distributors come with everything you need to drop-in and fire it up! Make sure to add some aftermarket Spark Plug Wires, so you get the full benefit out of your powerful, new ignition system.
Mustang Ignition Coils & Coil Packs – Most Late-model Mustangs (1996-newer) began using Ignition Coils, Coil Packs and Coil on Plugs (COP’s) to deliver the energy to the spark plugs, and should be replaced once you get into higher mileage with your Mustang. These can add power, throttle response, gas mileage and are a great foundation mod for any Mustang looking to throw down big numbers with a power adder.
These are just a few different ignition parts for your Mustang that tend to be forgotten. Make sure to check for the right gap for your spark plugs, correct timing marks for your distributor and you’ll be impressed with the results!
