Looking for a quick new car but don’t want to dish out all of that hard-earned cash? Forbes and Edmund’s have teamed up to create a list of the fastest cars available for under $30k. We could have told you that two of our finest would be in the Top 3!

Taking the cake at number one is the new Ford Mustang GT that makes a hasty 0-60 getaway in 4.8 seconds. Number 3 on the list is our very own V6 Mustang that gets an impressive 5.4 seconds from 0-60! Top 3, baby! Would you really expect anything less?

With this being said, what’s YOUR favorite generation Mustang? Would you take the plunge for a brand new ‘Stang or keep working on that badass Fox of yours? Is your Mustang even faster than the 2011′s for $30k? I can’t say that I haven’t looked as I do believe the new gens are sexy as hell, but my favorite is a 2003 Cobra in Sonic Blue. What’s yours?

    Have 2 ’69 coupes (302-auto & 351-4sp) both need some TLC
    Own ’06 GT vert
    Wife drives ’09 GT/CS vert
    ’11 Shelby vert (my baby)
    Favorite: ’69 Mach 1
    Love to have: ’68 coupe to relive some memories!
    Now to get rid of the snow so we can get out driving ‘em!! (and pay some more insurance!!)

    And I like the 05+ because their styling brings back the retro design.

    Today is the day the original 64 Mustang rolled into the Detroit auto expo showing it’s place in the Ford line up of Vehicles… so Happy Birthday to all the Mustangs, and let’s celebrate this by releasing the Ponys from the stables….

    The 2005-2009 Ford mustang was the foundation to the start of the retro styling for ford back in 2005. The retro look of this generation was really the stepping stone ford needed for its future. This generation really added a big plus when it came to styling, this generation gave mustang fanatics the old school feeling of american muscle. The generation models really took it back towards the mean and agressive styling of the mustang from the late 60′s to early 70′s this why i believe its one of the best if not the best.

    1969-1970 in my opinion the best and last development of the classic mustang ex: boss 302,Mach 1.After that ’71-73 too big and FAT.

    I was tempted to vote for a 66 Gt350 or a 68 Gt500 but having driven almost every generation of Mustang, never drove many of the Fox body cars, I think the 05/09 Mustangs are the best, easily modified to get much more grunt, but it comes from the factory with a pretty sweet motor. These cars just handle so much better than the early cars and they are dead solid reliable, they are tough to beat. I would love to have my 06 GT with the new Coyote motor, as I don’t like the new styling as well as the 05/09, but now I’m backtracking thinking about those 400 plus horses. Oh well that’s what’s so great about the original pony car. I love most of em.

    My first Stang was a 4-eye and I still love them. However, my nod goes with the first gen S197. Sorry to all those with ’10 or newer, but I just don’t like the new look.

    Really the 70 boss 302 is my favorite..but since i ‘m a 80s kid and i have always owned fox body mustangs the 79-93 fox bodys are right up there with the boss..classic wise. Got to love the sound of old pushrod muscle and flowmasters.

    05-09 Great Looks and enough power to play with. When I fiest saw them it brought me back in time to late 60′s and early 70′s. Combine that with the tech of today and it doesn’t get any better. Unless you drop a coyote in it.

    68 Fastback, which made me fall head over heels in love with mustangs. Love them all, except maybe the Charlie’s Angels years Mustang II from the 70′s what was ford thinking. I have 08 gives me the retro of the 60′s but the Technology of today. Plan driving her to her wheels fall off and welding them back on and do it again!

    Man a lot of guys really like the 99-04! I think their F***** ugly!! 4.6 liters with 300 and some horses just isn’t enough!! 67-70 and the modern retro styling of those years are the best. Especially the new 5.0 and Boss 302 their ripping new assholes for the 4.6 “terminator” lovers!!

      Maybe their “ripping new assholes” for the stock termis, but not for ppl into the aftermarket, like me for example lol. My cars odometer say 45000 but nothing on the car is over 10000 except for the heads of the engine everything else is brand new. I have an 01 cobra with a ported 04 cobra eaton supercharger, A new aluminum shortblock with forged internals(03 04 cobras have a cast iron block), t56 6 speed which is better then the trans theyve been putting in 05 and up cars except for one of the trans which is pretty equal, I also have 3.90s in the rear diff with a brace, also new brake disks, new springs, new sway bars, new bushings, full exhaust, wheels and tires, The list goes on forever but needless to say Ill be the one ripping assholes on the newer mustangs. Doing an eaton swap to an 01 cobra is very hard I did it for a few reasons, sleeper 01 cobra status, I could fit a whipple on that intake manifold now, I can get the big kenne bell mammouth kit which they dont make for the 01 cobra, with the stock 01 intake manifold id have to get the kenne bell 2.1 which is a good supercharger but the mammouth kit is better i think, but the main reason I chose the stock eaton supercharger(which is custom ported, similar to steigemeirs stage4 port, except ported out better) from an 04 cobra is so I can run a compound boost setup, although id have to get a new shortblock and alot of other things to make it work, thatll happen down the road someday most likely to the next cobra I build. Compound boost is a Supercharged+twin turbo setup, I have my stage 4+ ported supercharger to make the low end power and also high end power but once i get to the right point in the rpm range the turbos spool up and make ridiculous amounts of power in combination with the supercharger. With a stage5+ ported supercharger and big twin turbos you can prolly make 1700 horse safely as long as the engine trans and drivetrain can support it. With nitrous and a very aggressive tune you could prolly make over 2000. I think that the compound boost setup will only work with a roots style blower tho. I think itll only work with the roots style 3 blade eaton, I dont think it culd work with a twin screw or anything else. If I end up doing this to my car Ill put a stock supercharger back on it in place of the ported supercharger with a stock size pulley and small turbos and if I added nitrous it wuld only be a 50 or a 100 shot until I rebuilt the motor. And I would also have a pretty conservative tune to save gas and keep the inside of the motor in good shape, id prolly set it up to make 600 crank horsepower and maybe a few more horses cuz thats what my aftermarket shortblock is rated for. So stock supercharger small turbos a nice conservative tune you safely make 600 horse and you still have the nice whine sound and low and high end torque and power from the supercharger but at about 4000 rpms you hear the turbos spool. Just hearing that engine setup sounds so amazing, first you hear the supercharger then you hear the turbos spool up and it just sounds amazing until after you hear the great blow off valve you’ve picked out. Plus I have a convertible and I dont want to bend the chassis, although I do have sub frame connectors, I dont have a roll bar. But since my car is a vert ppl will say my car is heavier then a hard top, well one of the reasons I bought an 01 over an 03 04 is because the engine is aluminum and not cast iron like the 03 04 so where I gain weight with the convertible I loose weight in the engine bay, another good thing bout having a vert is you can transfer the top heavy weight of the car to the bottom right over the rear tires to lower your center of gravity and put more weight on the rear tires to give better traction and under acceleration it transfers the vehicle weight to the rear tires better. Its a sean hyland motorsports shortblock. Sean Hyland motorsports is the only authorized Shelby dealer outside of the US, theyre up in canada, so I might as well call my motor a shelby motor. But back to the main point of this comment lol: the 99-04 mustangs body style is the best out of all mustangs, but all mustangs look cool however 99-04 mustangs are the newest mustangs because in 05 they made the mustang retro. If you like the retro you either get a 60s stang or you get an 05 and up mustang so the 99-04s are the newest mustangs and my car is definition of that. 99-04 mustangs are the most modern body style design ford has done for the mustang all others are just older and thats not just opinion that is fact, 05 and up are just older mustangs. If I was gonna get an 05 and up mustang I would either get an 05 to 09 GT and put an eleanor body kit on it, or I would get a 2012 boss mustang(O and by the way, on the 2012 boss mustang they did side and rear exhaust, they have cutouts upstream from the mufflers that go to the side exhausts to make it louder and less restrictive, I had this idea for my car 5 to 6 yrs ago, ford stole my idea. If I did this to my car and patented it and made kits before ford did this to their cars I wonder if they would have to pay me some money. I thought this up before I even had my car which I bought about 2 and a half yrs ago now. I was gonna have roush side skirts and a saleen rear bumper that says cobra on it and I was gonna have cutouts in front of the mufflers or maybe even in front of the cats but most likely between the cats and the mufflers and when I open them the exhaust goes to the roush side exhaust but will still also go to the rear pipes too.)or I would get the shelby gt350. But na 01 cobra FTW!

    O and alot of the parts on my car are from american muscle, they are such a great company. Enough cannot be said about them theyre so good at what they do and I wish I could be involved with them in some way other then just buying all their stuff lol.

      Hey man nice car, I have an 04 Mach 1. I was thinking of putting a Mammoth s/c as well but not sure it can fit, what mods are needed to fit the eaton and/or mammoth? Im just trying to do some hw before I do anything drastic.

    O i also forgot to mention I like the 86 SVO mustangs, that mustang is what started SVT. Im not a big fan of fox bodys like I am for the 99 to 04 but theyre still quick tiny cars, every mustang is great but the newest body style stangs are def 99 to 04, theyre not to big not to small theyre just right. Its all about SVT ppl

    Special thanks to american muscle they have really paved the way for my car, LOL almost literally with those nice wheels and tires and black lugs and bulitt valve caps and cobra r center caps o man i culd just keep going again like before except this time bout american muscle but im not gonna right another story lol. AM is the greatest, Hit me up sometime AM I culd work for you or you could take pictures of my car for calenders or whatever anything at all, after I do the roush front bumper and sideskirts, and the saleen S281″”E”" spoiler and saleen rear bumper, and 04 cobra side scoops, and a carbon fiber rear diffusor or a custom metal one and after I paint it all up along with the mirrors.Or you could take pix before. Whatever you guys want Ill just do whatever to be associated with AM I culd even do shop work or computer work whatever. I have alot of money invested in my car a very lot close to 100k and Im still not done, I havent even started the body work yet. My goal is to get into a magazine or something. Pretty soon Im gonna be doing the quarter mile and race tracks just gotta get the car dialed in properly. HOW COME FORD NEVER PAINTED THE MIRRORS. I mean I know they did the folding mirrors on the 03 04 with some paint on them. If I paint my mirrors the non folding ones to match my paint I think theyll look pretty good.     I am a faithful American Muscle customer. The only time I do not buy from them is when they do not have what I need. I do find it very sad, and out rite disgusting that since they do not provide parts for the 66-78 mustangs that they did not give us a selection to vote for the original pony car. Isn’t that what started it all? I just do not get it American Muscle!! I would like it explained though.
