Stage 3 of our 2012 Mustang GT Build: Project Blackout!

For Stage 3 of our 2012 Mustang GT Project Car build, we wanted to help Project Blackout accelerate and handle like the “Ultimate Street Car” should! We added some suspension components to help this beast ride on rails. Then, we worked on acceleration and styling!

To totally transform the handling and acceleration characteristics of our GT, we installed…

J&M Adjustable Panhard Rod
Eibach Pro-System-Plus
JPC Racing Adjustable Upper Control Arm
J&M Rear Lower Control Arms
Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft
Ford Racing 4.10 Gears
Eaton Limited Slip Differential

With these mods added, we headed back to Cecil County Dragway in Maryland to see what we could do with our 12.3 times from Stage 2. We were able to shave our 1/4 mile time down to 12.1, dropping 2 tenths of a second with a lightened driveshaft and gears! We also tested the car out in the corners, and this thing has completely been transformed! You can really feel the new gears pulling, sway bars and springs working and it completed that “street-machine feel”!

To really help understand why we’re calling this project “Blackout”, we installed some stealth appearance mods and a set of AmericanMuscle Charcoal AMR Wheels and tires to help up hook up at the track! Check out what we added:

Trufiber 3″ Cowl Hood
Mustang Quarter Window Louvers – Pre-painted
Side Scoops – Pre-painted
RTR Aluminum Rear Spoiler
RTR Rear Diffuser with 3 pc. Splitter
Roush Side Rocker Panel Splitters

I think that Project Blackout looks, sounds and performs amazingly! However, we’re never satisfied. Stage 4 is going to be insane!

Do you know what we’re up to in Stage 4? Comment below and tell us what you think!
