Hot or Not? Ford’s New GT Supercar Concept Design

Now I know we’re a Mustang site, but if you don’t like the Ford GT Supercar… well, there’s just no hope for you! When Ford reintroduced roughly 4,000 GT Supercars in 2005-2006, not only were they a 550hp-supercharged, street-legal, economically priced beast, but they brought back a legacy of racing history. It’s been over 6 years now, and it looks like some concept designers are getting ansy!

One of my favorites is this new design by Camilo Pardo. You might know his work… he’s a former Ford Designer – the same guy who brought you the GT Supercar back in 2005! Here’s what he had to say about this latest creation:

“With the last Ford GT, we basically had to make it look like the original. With this design, I wanted to leave retro behind and create something more progressive, more futuristic. It goes back to the early clay models we did for the GT90 show car, which was too Star Trek for the public to accept. Note the simplicity of the surfaces; the rear three-quarter and side air intake are now one smooth movement. All the visual energy is channeled to the back. The vehicle gets large back there, which indicates lots of power. A change in dimensions is what makes the form exciting.”

    it looks sick, but it needs to change more from the gt. it looks like the early gt concept art! exactly like it. oh and the gt was economically priced compared to the competition!

    Awesome design! I just hope it comes with more horsepower than the 05-06 models because whats the point of a super car if its got the same power as a Shelby

    Is a bit too curvy for me. Make it have some nice cut lines in areas like the ’05s were, but mix it with the futuristic look.

    I love the ’05 ’06 GT’s they look sick and full of muscle, a real American Muscle machine, I like how this one looks, but i would like to see it more agressive, a Killer look, something that stop me from even getting close to it on a red light. You know, like being in a red light next to Black, staggered wheels, deeo throaty exhaust a 428 CJ !!!! DAMN!

    The damn thing looks like it’ll have so much torque from the huge rear-end design it’ll do a backflip! lol. did someone say lambo… oh that car in the dust back there? lol. Ford is the only way to go.

    It’s sexy futuristic but still carries the legacy of the traditionall gt. I can’t wait to see it on the street

    love the design,  ford should put  the 2011 shelby super snake engine in it 750 hp, body should be carbon fiber then it will kill anything u throw at it

    It looks like a flattened version of the 2005-2006 Ford GT but with differently shaped headlights. I like it.

    It’s like in 1994 when Ford came out with the new body design for the Mustang,there was a design they had that they dropped because they thought it was to aggressive.but in my opion I thought it looked awsome,same with this think it looks great! Excellent job hopefully they put this in production!

    Cool the Mach 5.1.    While I’m a big ford fan, this style is much like the new Camaro in that it’s just to carton like for my taste.  It’s initially striking but quickly tanks on an anime feel. It comes off fine on fist glance but it quickly looses it’s luster becomes somewhat less relevant, even poser like and dated.  I’m not sure exactly why.   It may look better in production though.  Heck give it an electric option, make it affordable, and bump the Tesla.

    Whatever! Looks just like every other Italian supercar in the world. The 5+ Mustangs are much better looking in my opinion.

    Too futuristic, For is all about the muscle and this looks like a space ship. I attached a pic of my car, 2005 ford mustang at the bottom. This is a muscle car, that is a jetson mobile.

       hey dummy, this is of a FORD GT  not a Mustang.  Ford GT= Sportscar, Mustang=Pony car.  Get your facts straight retard.  Competition with Lamborghini, Ferrari, Vipers, Corvettes.  All vehicles which im sure would leave your pony in the dust.

    If Carrol was designing a GT40 today what would it look like? Im sure it would be a low slung mean racy machine, Smooth where it needed to be with  large surface openings for radiators and brakes in strategic locations.
    I hope he sees this image Im sure he would approve. it has that GT stance with the latest in aerodynamic style
