Ford Set to Manufacture Mustang Mach 1 and Shelby GT350

GT500 Shelby

Rumors and a wide range of speculation have been flowing through the Mustang community these days, mostly centered around what the 2015 Mustang redesign has in store. Now, it looks like the design and motor lineup might not be the only thing Ford is changing come 2015/2016–The GT500 as we know it is rumored to be called the “SVT Cobra” while Ford plans to produce the GT350 in-house alongside the rebirth of the Mach 1. Yeah, those are some strong words; let’s hope the source reporting this from inside Ford wasn’t kidding around (who wouldn’t want to see a new Mach 1?).

Will the 2017 Mach 1 Be Produced

Could The Mach 1 be Making a Comeback?

According to inside sources working at Ford, MustangsDaily is reporting the iconic Mach 1 namesake will be returning to Ford’s factory production lineup in as early as 2017–14 years after Ford started pumping out the SN95 Machs. This is exciting news for those that have had the pleasure of owning one of the 2003-2004 Mach 1s and the large fan base within the Mustang community that have supported and promoted these cars. What motors will power them–and even the design of the S550–are not yet known, but rest assured if Ford is going to resurrect such a prominent and honorable title, they’ll surely put the needed power behind the pedal (see BOSS 302).

Mach 1 Mustang Makes a 2017 Return

A New Kind of Shelby GT350 in 2016

As for the GT350, it is currently being produced, but not as a factory option. You have to order the Shelby GT350 package separate, shipping directly from Shelby. The new GT350s would be rolling off the factory floor as bonafide Shelby GT350s and hit dealer lots alongside the likes of the GT500 (or will it be the SVT Cobra post 2014?), another factory produced Ford. With the GT500/Cobra being the top dog in terms of performance and all-out power, it will be interesting to see what price range and options Ford attaches to the GT350 and Mach 1s when, and if, they are produced.

Being an ’04 Mach 1 owner I would love to see a new Mach 1 and it would be awesome to see the GT500′s Condor 5.8L in it, less the supercharger and with a higher rpm range of course.

Can’t wait to see the real “new” Mustang. I was hoping that it was gonna be a new designed Stang and not just a reskinned 10′-14′. As for the Mach1, why don’t they just replace the GT with the Mach1 name like the 69′ through 78′ Mustangs. Yes it would be cool to see GT350′s and GT
500′s without the super charger so long as they don’t have the super charger price.

High RPM means Horsepower. When are you going to get a chance to rev to 8500? Give me a torque monster at low RPM and forget the high RPM’s.

The Shelby GT 350. Also, the Bullitt.
