2014 Ford Mustang Concept Car

The times are indeed a changin’! I think we may have proof of this change as the Mustang world anticipates the release of the 2014 over-haul that has sparked a ~~ton~~ bit of speculation. The interior is rumored to be much better with higher quality materials and the installation of advanced technology. Also, the 2014 Mustang model will be a retro throwback to the 60′s Fastbacks and will now feature change in the form of… a Mustang Turbo Charger !

The guys over at Auto Express basically confirmed that the new model will feature a 2.5-liter EcoBoost turbo that will generate about 300-HP and will also feature, drum roll please… Independent Rear Suspension! Go ahead, soak that one up. (And don’t worry, a 5.4-liter 500-HP V8 will be available if you’re after some muscle – afterall, this is a Mustang!)

The confirmed smaller, leaner chassis will only be a rocket-ship with a 500-HP V8! This new platform will help the Mustang make its way over to the UK and other continents (right hand drive), as Ford continues to compete globally.

The rumor that Ford will be featuring the new EcoBoost Turbo in its new model has been circulating for quite some time, but IRS? That’s news! Do you like where the new Mustang is headed? What about the concept design (even though they’re hardly ever accurate)?

im not supporting ford in anyway on this design but they have their reason for this body design is smaller which means less weight and faster times=still gay
lower to the ground means better weight distribution which contributes to better handling
i hate euro cars but when u distribute the weight right and make it light and then put a 500hp motor in all i gotta say is its gonna be one beastly son of a bitch
the 4cyl as gay as they are, fords probably goin back cause the 6 cyl is not much of a difference from the v8 on gas milage n the 4cyc is probably a lot better than any six they could pump out but damn that 4cyl is gonna be slower than an 94 v6 and thats slow

ford has increase fuel economy on their cars because of gov regs, thats probably the reason for the major design change , but really another 4 cyl i hate those pissed off weed wacker

ford is stupid as shit they design their cars for performance n fuel economy n with a few simple change they could be gettin 35-38mpg highway like me my changes to my 05 v6 have lasted a long time and improved the fuel economy, n thats without a tune (thats being done soon) but yea i can understand their reasons but i dont really like the idea of a weed wacker engine in a mustang n the gay euro design
look at it this way guys the mustangs still the best compared to other muscle cars performance wise/ look wise the challenger wins by a mile compared to the new design

they should allow some of old street racers to have a go at it , there should be a mix of 1960 and 2005 design minus the wgt and place a 500 hp in that , please do not go back to Mustang II time frame, ford you can do better than this , and yes please no weed wacker engines

twst14 is gay. I have an 08 GT and they should have stuck with the body style. The 2010-11 look cool in the front with a weird martian fat ass. The rear quarter panel of this new Mustang is exactly like the Camaro. Then you look at the rear. Exact copy of a Camaro. The only thing I recognized on the car was the Pony. Now I just want to know how much for the new motor and will it fit in my car. Damn Ford, just when you were getting close. Don’t suck like Government Motors.

I think they can do a proper IRS, seeing as how the car should be engineered around the suspension, rather than backwards as the 99-04 Cobra IRS was (made to fit where it really wasn’t intended).

Disappointed in the body style, they are making the car look more exotic, and it is becoming increasingly similar to the camaro. Keep the classic muscle car look. plus whats up with this eco-boost crap. i understand gas is expensive, but come on. A mustang is not a mustang without that hefty V8.

I love my GT, but every EcoBoost I’ve driven had been great fun. I could see having one of each. The V8 would dominate the drag strip while the lighter nose on the turbo engine would be great for handling on the road course.

Hold on buddy… If you actually took the time to read the above article, you would have come across the part about the 500 HP 5.4L V8… If you don’t want the 2.5L Turbo, then don’t get it!… And spend your time bashing the competition. Not the Mustang!

That’s an ignorant statement if i’ve ever heard one. What may I ask are you basing this off of? The power? Because you’d be wrong. Both Mustang models are faster than they’re competition. MPGs? Wrong again. both models have better miles per gallon than the Camaro. Handling? Ummm seriously? No. The only argument you can make is styling and that’s all personal preference. And if you base superiority by looks over functionality then you aren’t a true gear head so there isn’t much I can do for you. Also remember who died in 2002 because it sure wasn’t the mustang.

yes, i will agree the camaro is a beautiful car, and i would consider owning one with the right conditions. But im a mustang guy, and wont settle for anything less(camaro) and your simply un-educated, so lets go to school. Lets see, first off, this picture is based off the guigiaro design; doesn’t sound too american, so how much could he know about classic american muscle car aspects, and incorporating them into a new design? not very Ford to begin with, so they’re not copying. second, last time i checked, the 2011 5.0 with 412 hp walked on the Camaro SS with 426hp in just about everything.You can check motortrend if you want. Oh and lets look at the technology, dual overhead cams with variable cam timing=5.0(412 hp) better than 6.2(426 hp). your 1.2 liters got you 14 horsepower more, and we still beat you! and how is that 10x better? its not!….go cry about it

I think I will have to wait to form my opinion on the ‘new’ body design but the thought of a 500 horsepowered Mustang, without having to go the Shelby route, is news worthy in itself. My 1st thought, after seeing this rendering was that it looks to much like a Camaro. As far as the IRS goes I think it would be better as an option to better the cars appeal to the guys that like to run in a straight line as well, the IRS would appeal more to the ‘canyon carver’ crowd. With that being said I am still a loyal Mustang guy, and will always be.

Have you even seen a 1000hp vette get beat by any Live rear axel Mustang and I mean any thing street legal. You CAN make a IRS that is not crap off the line. And to make the IRS a option on some special SVO option it only going to make it cost more. No the New Mustang MUST have a IRS and Be lighter then the current car I love my 2009 for it’s retro style but I also admit it’s weakness. MOST mustangs are street cars and streets have corners and BUMPS.

what you people fail to realize is the fact that its a concept! look at the 05-09 concept the 2010 concepts you’ll notice they all have this look at first. As far as people calling it a camaro well duh gm kept the camaro concept because it was such a big hit in transformers as well as the sting ray corvette. But thats just my input

As a long time mustang gear head I still don’t understand why you try to hide the hard lines of the mustang in the rear door area and the front of the quarter panel. A mustang has always stood out this design would be a replica of every sport car molded together with only the mustang badge. It’s a mustang make it stand out like a mustang should. This would be reminiscent of the mustang II where the car was made just to keep the name alive. The mustang II held its own but was considered a made over pinto. Give people something to talk about when they hear or see a.mustang, don’t make it just another car on the road.

So basically it’s the fox all over again: 2 engine options a v8 or 4 banger, lightest mustang ever, european inspired interior (compared to the fox’s japanese inspired interior), most technilogically advanced mustang to date, and it looks a little more rounded out than previous years like the fox, but it seriously lacks the fox body’s good looks

Not really. It looks too much like an R8 or Lambo, If i want to drive that body-style around, I’ll buy a Corvette. I want a GT style muscle car-big and musclar looking!! And leave the turbo idea on Porsches and GTRs!! Muscle cars should have a big cammed, high-flowing power plant, or big super-charged engines, not a turbo!!! But I agree about the independant suspension idea, but it also needs to be similar wieght to a Vette to compete on 1/4 mile or a circuit!!! That’s why Corvettes and Porsches out corner Stangs. They are way lighter than the Ford and the axel is a huge liability!!! We need more carbon fiber fenders,quarter panels, hood, and trunk. The roof should stay sheet metal-just that little bit of security feeling.
