There’s no doubt that the Mustang is currently the hottest muscle car on the block, but keeping it that way is going to be a challenge for Ford! In order to lead the pack over the next decade, many people believe that a design change could be in order as early as 2014. This has sparked quite a few renderings and concepts, but I had to pull one of my favorites to show you guys:

The manual vs. automatic rivalry rages on and the comparison between the two has never been hotter! Credit Ford for fanning the flames with the awesome 5R55S (2005-2010 Mustang GT) and 6R80 (2011 5.0L Mustang) automatic transmissions as they have gone toe-to-toe on the drag strip with stick-shift equipped Mustangs.
I admit it, my 2007 Mustang has an automatic transmission and I like it. There, I’ve said it and I am not ashamed one bit! In fact, I am not alone in being impressed with the 5R55S as MM&FF Editor and die-hard stick-shift racer Evan Smith has stated on many equations he likes racing his wife’s auto-equipped ’07 Stang. Another stick-shift-or-die guy is noted NMRA racer and shop owner Justin Burcham and he digs the latest auto cars too. In fact, I’ve even quoted Justin in a magazine article as saying that if he had to own an auto-equipped Mustang it would be one with a 5R55S slush-box.

From time to time, someone will ask us “Why does my car put out 290 horsepower on the dyno if it was rated at 300 horsepower stock?” Dyno results can be confusing for anyone who hasn’t read up on the topic. How can the same car put down different numbers just because the dyno manufacturer isn’t the same? These answers are simple much easier to understand if you know how a dyno calculates or measures horsepower and torque.

Here at AmericanMuscle,
most a few of our employees have “less-than-perfect” driving records. This is probably because we’ve been on the lookout for the darkest, fastest, highest roads in the US; and sometimes this calls for a little bit of “spirited driving”! During our search, we stumbled upon these 5 roads that were just begging for us to lay down some fresh rubber:
Number 5. Florida’s State Road A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Highway

There’s no questioning that the southern Florida coast is one of the finest spots in the country for beach bodies! And by beach bodies we mean both classic/vintage and brand new Mustangs! For years, it has been a landmark “cruising” spot for all automotive enthusiasts–every car imaginable can be seen on this stretch of road from Key West through Jacksonville. Whether you’re cruising in 4th gear or burning the tires at every stop light, it’s hard to find a better road to drive on.
4.) Montana’s Beartooth Highway – The All American Road
11,000 feet above sea level and chiseled into mountain terrain, you’ll find a high performance enthusiast’s dream! This two hour scenic drive has plenty of potential for Mustang drift footage for those brave enough to try. Montana’s US Highway 212 has the most amazing twists and turns through what seems to be walls of snow and rock. Make sure to check with the ranger’s station before taking on this voyage, as it has been known to snow even in the summer.
