The 2013 Detroit Motor show was a big deal for Carroll’s company, Shelby American, and Shelby enthusiasts. During the show they unveiled a few surprises, one being an almighty wide-body ’13 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Mustang! Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
Anyone familiar with the Carroll Shelby Tribute Mustang that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show knows a thing or two about the new wide-body kit. Already powered by an award-winning motor, the new 2013 GT500 wide-body kits are poised to boost Shelby that much closer to total dominance on the streets and at the track. With Steve Saleen announcing his company’s plans for a 2014 Saleen 351 monster packing 700 HP, Shelby’s wide-body kit is just what the doctor ordered for those GT500 owners in desperate need of wheel grip and traction.
A Superior Super Snake
The Super Snake is back and it’s more aggressive than ever! They beefed up the rear end quite a bit and it’s ready to shred. The optional wide-body kit from Shelby isn’t just for appearances as it helps ground the massive amount of horsepower coming from the rear tires and plants them firmly to the road. The Shelby Super Snake performance package still packs 850 HP, the same amount as earlier models, but with a bigger rear, the power goes straight where it needs to be. Good news, too, in all fifty states the Super Snake is completely street-legal and tuned on 91 octane pump gas.
Interested in a Shelby wide-body kit? The options include the front and rear wide-body package, or a rear-only package. The wheels of choice are 13-inches for the rear and 10-inch wheels in the front and you know that they are wrapped in some serious rubber.
To be able to get this for your own car, you must have a base Shelby GT500 already. For a Super Snake it costs an extra $28,995 over the base GT500, while the more powerful package costs $39,995. That doesn’t include the wide-body kit which costs $14,995 more. To get your very own, it will cost a pretty penny, that’s for sure, but wouldn’t it be worth it?
